December 17th - December 21st

Here are some highlights from our week!
This week we we did wordwork with snow (aka shaving cream).  The kids had a blast and they said our room smelled "handsome"!  We practiced spelling our 100 words I need to know.

We made some cute elves this week! Here are the pictures.

Reading in our PJs was a treat!

I hope that you all make wonderful memories with your children over the holidays! Get lots of rest and relaxation time in.  Don't forget about the holiday homework too!

Thank you for all of the cards and gifts that were sent this week.  It is a gift to work with each of your children every day! Happy holidays!

Upcoming Dates:
- School resumes on January 7th
 - We are going on an outdoor adventure to Boggy Creek on January 23rd.  I would love to have 2-3 parent helpers for this trip.  We will leave the school around 10:15 and return at 3:30.  Please let me know if you are interested!

Random Acts of Kindness

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

Mr. Jack Mackenzie talks about effort and kindness.  He also talks about doing random acts of kindness.  Your holiday homework is to do three random acts of kindness!!

You can draw a picture, take a picture or write about what you did.  Bring your homework back to school on January 7th and be prepared to share your acts of kindness with the class.  Talk with your family about random acts of kindness.

Here are some ideas if you are stuck!

December 10th-14th

This week has flown by in grade 2!  We are working hard on some secret art projects!

In math we are working on our Numbers to 100 unit.  We have been estimating and grouping large numbers.  For example, 87 would be 8 groups of 10 and 7 1s.  I have posted a link called ten frames for your child to work on.  Here is the link.  Ten Frames

This week we worked on some fun writing.  The topic was "Would you rather be friends with Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer"?  Ask your child who he/she chose and why!!

Thank you to everyone for sending items for our hampers.  I'm sure we will make a family very happy this holiday season.

Thank you so much to our wonderful parent volunteers who supervised for special lunch day!  Our class really appreciated it.  Thank you to those who brought food items to the special lunch for the staff as well!  It was a fantastic lunch!

We had the band students come into our room to play some Christmas tunes.  Here is a picture of that!  It was a wonderful treat for our class!!
